Hiking Trails In Arizona Red Rock Mountain Trail

The Hiking-Trails-In-Arizona is a great trail that runs along the banks of the Rio Grande in New Mexico. This hike can be taken as a day trip or an overnight camping trip. It runs along the border between the United States and Mexico for about twenty miles. A few of the trails on this trail are part of a national historic trail and are listed by the National Park Service as well.

This hike starts at the junction of the Red Rock Mountain Range and the Rio Grande. The trail follows the river as it flows through the Red Rock Mountain Range. This mountain range is the largest in the United States and is found in Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. The Red Rock Mountain Range is also one of the highest mountains in the southwestern U.S.

Along this trail the trail crosses two bridges where hikers can cross the Pima County line and get closer to the Red Rock Mountain. At the crossing of the bridge, you will see a parking lot with a sign that says the trailhead.

The first part of the trail is a small loop. The path crosses the Red Rock Mountain at the junctions of the trail. The trail goes a short distance further along the Red Rock Mountain and then turns right and begins to run through cactus brush. The cactus brush is very difficult to get through, but the route is very well maintained. At the next junction the path continues through an open area.

As the trail goes through this open area the path will make two minor switch backs as it comes across a rock formation known as the "rock formation" on the way to the intersection of the Red Rock Mountains and the Rio Grande. Here the path turns left and heads back towards the Red Rock Mountain Trail Junction. You will cross another bridge here and then proceed up to a flat section. The path then turns right and heads down toward the river.

At the river, the Red Rock Mountain Trail joins the Rio Grande Trail. After this point, you will find a junction where you can turn left and then head back up towards the Rio Grande Trail junction again.
