History Of Soccer

Association football, also known as just soccer or football, is a professional team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. It is the most popular non-sports event in terms of attendances and TV audiences in North America and Europe. It is played in about 200 nations and dependencies worldwide, with about 250 million people playing it regularly. The popularity of soccer has led to its development into a well-developed recreational activity.

Futsal is the game in which the player must hit the ball with the sole of the foot using only power and balance to propel the ball into an open net. With the use of a heavy stick, usually made from wood, players simulate the game using a kind of football, or 'futa de bola'. A goal is scored when a player using the stick touches the ball with the sole of the foot with a certain rhythm and movement to make it pass into the open net. Soccer is played on an oval field that is two feet wide and ten yards long, with the goals being guarded by upright poles. The ball is usually played in a 'defense' mode, with the objective of preventing the other team from scoring the most goals. Generally, soccer games last for three minutes, fifteen minutes for half time, and another three minutes for full time.

The history of soccer can be traced back in Africa, where it was known as 'Zorastrian soccer', which was played between two teams consisting of eleven players each. In Spain, the game was known as La Confianza while in the United States, it came to be known as soccer, better known as American football. While soccer has gained much popularity outside of the traditional lands of Europe and America, it is the Chinese who are widely recognized for their involvement in the sport.

Today, soccer has developed greatly, becoming a globally recognized sport, with teams from the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Germany and Russia among others. While soccer is a very popular contact sport, the United States has not produced a world class team to compete in international tournaments. Due to this, other countries have taken an interest in the sport and have brought in teams to international competition, creating a strong rivalry in terms of support and player development. Soccer has also created many professional soccer players, such as Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo, David Beckham and Rafa Maradona.

A typical soccer match is played on a hard ground with a goal line of three feet, nine inches, and with ten yards of each side. The offense consists of pressing the opposing team's defense using high-tension tackling and skills, while the defense tries to block the attack using its own bodies. Each team has thirteen players on the field including two goalkeepers. Kickoffs occur in the corners of the 18 yard line. With no extra contact, each team takes a free kick once the ball reaches the opponent's goal line. The game is controlled by the two teams playing in each corner of the field.
